Niyagama House
Galle
Galle is a city on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka. It’s known for Galle Fort, the fortified old city founded by Portuguese colonists in the 16th century. Stone sea walls, expanded by the Dutch, encircle car-free streets with architecture reflecting Portuguese, Dutch and British rule. Notable buildings include the 18th-century Dutch Reformed Church. Galle Lighthouse stands on the fort’s southeast tip.

Niyagama House
The retreat Niyagama House, situated on the highest point of an active tea plantation, was completed in 2012 by the German architect and yoga teacher Elke de Silva and her Sri Lankan husband Chaminda. By combining modern elements with traditional Sri Lankan design, it is an absolute architectural highlight.
The five generous rooms and two double or twin suites are equipped with high quality furniture and luxurious bathrooms. From every room you have a wonderful view into nature and four of them offer a private balcony. The peaceful location makes it a perfect place for a relaxing holiday.
It is located nine kilometers inland from the coastal city of Galle and the historic, charming Galle Fort and in 20 minutes you will reach the southern beaches of the Indian Ocean. The distance to the airport of Colombo is 130 km, which is just a 2 hours drive via the new highway.
Yoga, Massages and Excursions
Our small "Yoga Hideaway" offers morning yoga classes, followed by a guided meditation and full body relaxation. You can book single classes or one of our wonderful yoga retreat packages: 'Yoga Bliss' for three or more days and 'Yoga Immersion' for 5 or more days. In the little 'Niya Spa' you can spoil yourself with a traditional ayurvedic oil massage or other relaxing treatments. Chill out at the 18 meter long and chlorine-free pool with a view into the surrounding rainforest or take part in a guided tour of the plantation. For yoga, massages and the use of our pool also day guests are very welcome. Selected, interesting tours are offered. Our house and pool area is non-smoking - with a "secret" smoking spot just behind the pool. And we do not serve alcohol - but you can bring your own and enjoy it where ever you want to. Together with our attentive and friendly team, we aspire to give you the right amount of personalized attention balanced with respecting your need for space and privacy.
